OUR BACKGROUND

Micheal started making things in high school, and when one of his teachers noticed they got him involved in a program that gave him the opportunity for him to learn under multiple masters from all over the world.

​

After getting back from the program Micheal could not find any work in his trade but started to acquire tools anyway. He worked in welding, stone masonry and other jobs until he had the tools he needed to get started i in 1998. He began making armor and jewelry that he sold to private collectors and museums. After thirty-five years Micheal retired until he met Z about a year after retirement.

Z at the time was a young homeless teenager and had interest in learning how to make things. Micheal not realizing what type of persistent pain in the butt Z was, he told her that all she had to do was show up and that he would teach her how to smith and make things out of metal. He was not prepared for Z to show up at six am, let the dogs out to go potty, make him coffee and then wake him up and say when you're ready I will be in your living room and ready to learn. Since then, Micheal has been teaching Z because as per the arrangement she kept showing up.

Now, in 2024, Micheal and Z are going to be opening the school to the public and want to create and opportunity for all those interested and willing despite setbacks and hurdles in one's own life. Because of this we offer several programs such as the Mentorship Program where we work with Highschool students, the Homeless Program giving the homeless the opportunity to learn skills and actually do something without being shunned, as well as a Sliding Scale/Trade Program on top of the regular traditional students.
